When Steve is out of town the boys sleep with me. They are getting too big to BOTH sleep with me, but they take turns and the other one sleeps on a cot in my room. It's just a habit we've gotten into. I like it because I can hear them better, and it feels safer. When Steve is out of town, nothing feels safe.
So the other night, Steven was sleepwalking/talking. He asked Isaac if he was ready to go. I asked him what he was doing and he replied he didn't know. Then I sent him back to bed. I didn't think anything about it. But when I got up in the morning, both locks on the door were unlocked and the door was standing wide open. We concluded that Steven must have slept walked to the door and was going to take a walk outside. But God intervened and had him go get Isaac who happened to be in bed with me at the time. That woke me and I was able to put an end to the excursion.
If Isaac had been in his own room, I'm not sure I would have heard Steven trying to wake him. If Steven hadn't come back to wake Isaac, he could have been out the door in a heartbeat without my knowledge. But God was in control. And He kept my family safe. I'm so grateful. And I would be a fool not to recognize His hand in it. God is so good. And He cares. He cares about everything. Not just the stuff we care about and think about, but everything! And He kept my children safe Thursday night while I was sleeping. Wow. What a mighty God we serve!
