creative teaching

I'm having the hardest time getting science and history projects crammed into our otherwise full day. We're all ready not finishing school until around 4:30 on some days. So I've come up with a creative solution: History/science week. On the months that have five weeks in them, we are going to take that last week and only do science and history projects. It will be a lot more hands on and engaging than the boring reading assignments Steven is doing right now. He will still have his assignments, but I'm hoping this will drive the point home a little more for him and be more like the home school I've always aspired to have. So there's my latest creation. The first history science week will be October 29- November 2nd! I'm stoked and can't wait to start making plans. I think it should be a fun week of learning.

Sounds like a fabulous idea! Anything to keep you motivated and make the year more enjoyable for all of you.

thanks. I was really second guessing myself thinking, "what kind of school only teaches history and science once every few months?" But he'll be learning year long in a less hands-on kind of way. And that's the best I can do this year. I'm overwhelmed girlie!
