I heard from the brother last night. He sent me a nice email. It was very mature and heartfelt. The biggest complaint was that he was put in the middle of this on going sister feud we have. I can see how he felt that way. He was in a round about kind of way. I think we're all having regrets about the way the weekend turned out and what we could have done differently to turn it around. (Maybe not that younger sister, but everyone else) It's interesting. This is the first kind of "spat" my brother and I have ever had. We didn't grow up together. We just rekindled a relationship a few years ago. So we haven't had the chance to fight too much. I have to say that I'm relieved.
1) It makes us family. Family doesn't always get along. We have to work at it. But we realize we should work at it because we are family.
2) I know he will do the right thing. He was angry at first; but handled it well in the end. And that's cool.
I heard a while back that in order to have a mature relationship; you had to have mature people. If people want to grow in their relationship with one another; they have to grow up. You do not have to invest in a relationship with anyone who refuses to mature. So now I know. I won't be written off for good. We can work stuff out. And that's how it should be.
By the way; I emailed him back and told him how sorry I was that we didn't see one another more. I also expressed my regrets that he felt as though he was in the middle of a sister spat.
