dogs, cats, and a gerbil

One sad story and one cute one.

Steven got a new pet gerbil last night. He and I are sharing custody actually. I thought the preschoolers would love a class pet and he wanted a gerbil desperately. So we split the cost and bought a gerbil. We got him home last night and he was adjusting fine. Then bedtime came and we went to sleep, but Mr. Gerbil and the cats did not. The cats pulled the cage down sometime through the night and the gerbil got out. The cats proceeded to feast away. Sad. Poor Steven. He has learned however, that you must have an aquarium if you own cats and want a small pet.

Gracie loves to go to school. She runs out the door to the car and jumps inside. We drive Steven to school and she gives him kisses. Then we come home and she runs in and sits at the gate for her treat. Since she isn't leashed and never runs away, I delight her with a beggin' strip. Adorable. Gracie loves school. Furthermore, she is going to be a witch for Halloween.

yes, poor gerbil and poor Steven. And poor mom who had to comfort in the middle of the night. Now I'm worn out.
