financial gluttony
So I've been house shopping on the internet. We're not buying a new house or anything, but it's kind of a past time for me. I always see 2 million dollar homes that take my breath away. But my Mom told me last week of this house she went to go see the other day. It was $300,000. So that got me to thinking. The people that live in these homes aren't all wealthy. Most aren't. They're your everyday kind of people. Now I got to looking at my budget. How does that work? That wouldn't work w/ my budget. I would have to give up private school, dates, the way we eat, and socialize. I would have to forget all about new clothes and getting my nails and hair done. And I could NEVER under any circumstances tithe. How would that be pleasing to The Lord? I just don't think that's something God would have for us. I'm not altogether convinced that isn't financial gluttony. We want, we want, we want. So we take what's not ours (tithe) and we satisfy this weeks' financial craving. When that wears off next week, or month, or year, we simply trade it in for the next bigger, better, more expensive (of course) thing. And eventually we're so stuffed. We've become obese from stuffing so much in our financial mouths. I prefer my diet of tithe and living within my means. Speaking of my diet, it's a funny thing about diets. It's easy to fall off the wagon. My prayer for my family is that we can see the eternal wealth of something and "buy" accordingly.
